Austin Reaves’ latest ‘Hillbilly Bogey’ AR1 sneakers are inspired by golf

NEW YORK – The Los Angeles Lakers are unfortunately watching the rest of the NBA Playoffs from home or wherever they may have traveled to already for vacation, but star point guard Austin Reaves will be spending a bulk of his summer months out on the links. Crowning himself, and not Stephen Curry, as the best golfer in the NBA, Austin Reaves will release an all new colorway of his signature Rigorer AR1 sneakers in a fitting golf-inspired theme. Austin Reaves has seen massive success in his debut signature sneakers with Rigorer and he’s also partnered with KICKS CREW to help amplify his brand off the court. The global sneaker marketplace has teamed with Reaves in the past for a ’17 Rings’ collaboration sneaker and now KICKS CREW will release a shoe based on AR’s alter ego on the golf course, Hillbilly Bogey. The eighth release in his signature line will be inspired the beauty of green golf courses and his mentality when playing the game.

“The Rigorer design team has let me use the AR1 as a canvas to share my journey and life, and now we are combining two of my passions. I’ve been playing golf my whole life, and to be able to combine it with my signature basketball shoe means everything to me,” said Austin Reaves
when discussing his new release.

This limited edition release features a golf-inspired colorway, combining green hues on a white base. The bubble lacing system is covered with faux grass, and an avatar of Austin on the golf course on the inside tongue. More golf graphics are seen on the heel logo and the word “Eagle” is etched near the Rigorer logo. The lace-stays are featured in bright red and the outsoles also feature green undulating outlines.

The Rigorer AR1 is tailored to the exact specifications of Austin Reaves and engineered to excel. The hallmark of the shoe is the woven cocoon upper, representing Reaves’ constant growth as a player. The Showtime foam tech outsole features EVA foam, which is made to favor a low-court feel and maximize energy return, much like Austin Reaves as a player. The shoes have multiple TPU plates to ensure lockdown and prevent injuries, while the treading of the outsole is some of the best on the basketball sneaker market today.
