In New Orleans, it is officially crunch time for Saints head coach Dennis Allen. After another disappointing season in 2023, the fan base is running out of patience for the veteran coach.

Allen needs to have a good season at the helm in 2024, or the franchise will have a very tough decision ahead of them. Allen's major move for this offseason was swapping offensive coordinators. Klint Kubiak was named the new OC after spending time with the San Francisco 49ers and Kyle Shanahan.

The Saints HC joined NFL Network's The NFL Report with Steve Wyche and James Palmer on Tuesday. He shared some useful info on the thought process that led to the Kubiak hire and the future of Derek Carr in his offense.

Allen thinks that Kubiak's style of offense is one of the best in the NFL right now.

"I felt like Klint Kubiak was obviously the person of choice... I feel like I've known this scheme for a long time. And I feel like this is the best scheme that gives your players the best chance to have success that's going in the National Football League right now... I think Klint is highly intelligent. He's (an) extremely hard worker. I think we've put together an outstanding staff with a little bit of mixture of older veteran coaches that have been there done that, with some younger, progressive-mindset type of guys, and I think it's gonna be a great mixture for our organization."

The Saints coach also thinks that the change will be beneficial for quarterback Derek Carr. He thought that he made strides last season when they made some adjustments to play-calling, and the team's latest choice is good news for him.

Allen also noted that Carr did have input when the team was choosing their new OC. The head coach talked about the options with the QB, and Kubiak reigned supreme.

"I think Derek is going to do exceptionally well. I thought there was a point in time this past season where we started incorporating a little more of the play-action passing game, and I really felt like that's where our offense started to take off... I've had communication with Derek throughout this process and talked to him about some of the different candidates that we were bringing in..." -- Allen

It will be intriguing to see what the Saints offense looks like next season. It needs to improve in order for Allen to stick around in New Orleans.
